Designing this dream kitchen has been a labor of love. I started creating the framework of this kitchen to get an idea of how it will be designed, and once complete, the sketches will be passed on to a cabinet maker to perfect. Sketching out the cabinet plans and layout has involved countless hours of research and of course, searching through multiple Pinterest boards for ideas. After many iterations, the kitchen plans are just about complete and ready to be passed on. The kitchen plans include custom cabinetry, with a mix of stained and painted finishes, natural stone countertops, Sub-Zero and Wolf professional appliances, and Kohler plumbing fixtures.
One of my favorite pieces of the kitchen will be the massive island, which will contain an apron front sink, dishwasher, and space for four large countertop stools. To provide more interest to the space, the island will be stained in dark walnut, while the rest of the wall cabinets will be painted in Sherwin Williams Eider White. On top all of the cabinets will be a striking slab of white calacatta marble. Above the island will be two minimalistic iron lanterns by Visual Comfort. And because they are one of my favorite companies, 4 grey leather upholstered barstools by Lee Industries will accompany the island.
In designing this kitchen, one of the key goals was to not make it overly white. So to warm it up, the tile on the backsplash will be in shades of glazed pumice and pewter and the tile will also have a crackled effect to add interest to it. The field tile and joint tile will be from Sonoma Tile and the subway tile will be from Waterworks.
On the wall with the Wolf range will be countertop to ceiling tile and a recessed tile mosaic will serve as the backsplash of the range. On the other main wall will be the Sub Zero refrigerator, a wine cooler and convection microwave. This wall will be sectioned off with the bar section being recessed and above the wine refrigerator will be leaded glass front cabinets. How perfect of a space this will be for all the bar supplies!
This kitchen is going to be a gorgeous space to cook, entertain and dine in and I am thrilled to see it moving along!
